Welcome to Marden Primary Academy. If you would like a paper version of this website, please contact the school office.
We aim in our Science teaching for all children to:
Be able to access the science content of the lesson and find Science enjoyable.
Be encouraged to use their natural curiosity to develop a scientific approach to solving problems.
Be able to build their self-confidence to enable them to work both independently and co-operatively with others.
Understand that science relates to their lives, to the real world, to everyday situations and will provide employment opportunities for some of them in an increasingly scientific and technological world.
Develop scientific knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics.
Acquire a progressive understanding of scientific ideas, knowledge and skills.
Be encouraged to develop a responsible and considerate attitude towards their work, with an awareness of themselves and others.
Become effective communicators of scientific facts and data.
Be encouraged to care for and enjoy the environment.
Be curious and investigative across the Science curriculum.
At Marden Primary Academy we value Science because it makes an increasingly important contribution to all aspects of life. All children are naturally curious about their environment and science makes a valuable contribution to their knowledge and understanding of the world. Science is a body of knowledge built up through experimental testing of ideas. It is also about methodology, a practical way of finding reliable answers to questions we may ask about the world around us.
